My dentist six months ago suggested I get my gums checked by a periodontist. Six months later I still had not gone. Let me say I love going to the dentist for their work and art that they do and keeps me smiling and eating and good health and well being. Ok, back to point, next visit to my dental check up he was a bit more pointed and recommended I get to the periodontist. Did he say it differently (Donald Curia, DDS great guy) or more likely I was listening differently and more open. So I called and was able to be seen the following week (wow). Steven John, DDS periodontist was great and his entire office staff. He did a thorough exam, explained what he found and what needed to be done. It all made sense, really black and white. I said yes, three days later I had my surgery, I thought it was minor, but I am not sure. But it went quickly, he found my problem was bit more than expected, but he fixed it all. No pain during surgery and I was awake, had headphones on too. He explained what he found and care instructions afterwards. No pain post surgery he gave pain med. recommendation OTC and a Rx. I never needed the Rx and took minimal OTC twice this first week is all.
When I tell my friends I just had periodontal work they all cringe in face, body and voice, but it was all unfounded. I now have a healthier mouth which is preventative care and so much more than just smile, but eating, heart disease etc. Is this not like much in life. Usually an experience is not as horrible or painful physically or mentally then we make it out to be. Look at Passover, Easter, be trusting all will be good and 99% it will be.
